Armed conflict is recognized as a heavily contributing factor, as the individuals (women and children in particular) who are internally displaced in situations of conflict are most vulnerable to traffickers. The author explores this connection between human trafficking and conflict in Africa through research on refugees and internally-displaced persons, the effect of peacekeeping personnel, and the effects and implications of border patrol.
