"Qué sabemos de la dinámica de género en las culturas amazónicas; cuál es la posición de los hombres y las mujeres en las sociedades indígenas amazónicas; cómo se desarrollan las relaciones entre hombres y mujeres; cómo se desarrollan los derechos y las obligaciones entre hombres y mujeres, en particular los relativos al acceso y control del territorio y los recursos naturales; ¿son relaciones de igualdad y
complementariedad, o por el contrario son relaciones de desigualdad y subordinación? No pretendemos dar respuesta a todas las interrogantes planteadas, tampoco aspiramos a encontrar respuestas acabadas dada la complejidad del tema. Pero sí nos interesa reflexionar en torno a la interacción de los pueblos indígenas amazónicos con la sociedad occidental. El impacto de los marcos legales en las relaciones de género, ¿promueven realmente oportunidades de equidad de género o crean más bien desigualdades entre hombres y mujeres?"
